Living Room- From Staged to Sophisticated

The goal of the living room was to have a more formal looking room and with a comfortable feel to each of the furniture pieces.  The custom Interior Crafts sofa with side wood panels upholstered with a warm taupe chenille Pindler upholstery fabric sets the tone of the space.  The two custom sitting chairs are by Hickory Chair and Vanguard and adorned with Pindler and Kravet upholstery fabrics and they are placed on a custom Antrim wool area rug.  The case good are by Vanguard and Charleston Forge and bring in elements of wood and metal to add interest. The rich blue glass table lamps are by Currey & Co. And the round kitchen table is conducive for family dinners!

Contemporary Living Room

My client’s custom built a stunning contemporary home on the beautiful coast of the Puget Sound in West Seattle after living in the area for over the past two decades.  They both always wanted to live on the water and finally moved into their two building compound after a two a half year construction. The architect designed the home to take advantage of the water views and the home has over forty windows so to experience every aspect of each day.

They love to entertain so the main floor has a large kitchen and living room area with access out to a water front balcony.  I wanted to keep the coloring of all the furnishings in the spaces neutral yet with some interest and to not detract from the beautiful scenery.  My clients travel a great deal and their artwork and sculptures also were part of the overall design of the spaces.  The custom bar stools by Trica and dining table and chairs by Old Biscayne Designs provide enough sitting for all of their gatherings.

The main focal point of the living room is the black slate fireplace which is directly opposite the dining and kitchen areas.  The custom Vanguard sofa with a tweed Pindler fabric has a sweeping view of the Puget Sound while the two Charleston Forge sitting chairs are centered off the fireplace.  A custom day bed was design for both sitting and lounging while viewing all of the daily sea life.  All of the wool custom area rugs are by Antrim.

The entry of the home is dramatic with the steel staircase and wood slat walls that were designed on all three levels of the house.

Living Room with Stunning Views

The original living room was stark and all white and my clients wanted a warm and inviting feel from the front door that looks directly into the living room.  The fireplace surround and hearth was retiled with a warm natural stone and a new custom mantel now provides the space for decorative items. New window coverings add to the warmth of the space and provide coverage for all the new furnishings during hot summer days.  The new large sectional, cocktail table, area rug and sitting chair provide ample space for my clients to entertain and enjoy the beautiful view. I created a custom paint wall color and used Champagne on Ice for the ceiling and trim.

The Perfect Family Room

This family loves to be together while watching TV and the custom J. Redmond sectional was designed to sit all their friends and family and the Maxwell upholstery fabric was selected for its clean ability and durability for any accidental spills and stains.  The custom upholstered ottoman with a wood center top is the perfect solution for the center of the sectional. And the custom TV cabinet by Old Biscayne anchors the wall and has amble storage below. The one of a kind shell lamp by Currey & Co. sets the tone for all the movie watching evenings.

Classic Lounge

My client wanted a classic, yet lighter feminine feel to the fireplace lounge and dining room; our first project was to replace the heavy stone fireplace.  The new fireplace was transformed with a concrete mantel and hearth detailed with beveled edging and a curved top by Old World Stoneworks.  The Authentic Home Dove Grey paint color was custom made into a stain to adhere to the concrete surround and hearth and an opal colored metallic finish paint was applied for the final coat to give the fireplace a truly unique look.  The sitting chairs on either side of the fireplace, the love seat and lamps were provided by the homeowner and fit perfectly in the space.  The decorative wool and silk area rug defines the room and makes this sitting area the perfect place for entertaining.

A new sectional sofa and chaise, a timeless sitting chair and a metal and glass round end table complete the furnishings of this comfortable living room space.

Feminine Living Room

When you walk into this 1940’s home the living room is front and center, and the female client wanted it to be more soft and feminine. The Authentic Home COLOR Paint™ in Light Parchment was selected for the walls and Light Sage for the ceiling. To complement the space, a bone-colored round back leather and chenille sofa, soft green silk custom drapes and custom striped silk table skirt were also added to the room. A pewter chair with matching bone and soft green fabrics and a mirrored coffee table make the room perfect for entertaining.

Living Room with a View of the Sound

The couple of this 1930’s split level home wanted a more contemporary feel to their entire home especially since the wife recently retired. Tom Fine of Fine Construction headed up the project while Kathy provided aesthetic guidance with the selection of the interior materials for the kitchen and living rooms including the furnishings. The scope of work consisted of removing a main wall between the living room and the kitchen and dining room and the removal of several windows so to take advantage of the beautiful sound views. Authentic Home COLOR Paint in Grey Stone, Lemongrass, Ocean Mist and Champagne on Ice were used throughout the home.

Contemporary Living Room

This contemporary, three-floor townhome was in need of some authenticity. Owned by a young urban couple, the home’s décor did not reflect their lifestyle or personalities and they came to Authentic Home to create a space with a more playful and modern feel. The bright yellow paint color throughout the entire main floor was negatively affecting the couple’s moods and behavior, and they were ready for a drastic change. The Authentic Home COLOR Paint™ in Pewter was applied to the walls to bring a more contemporary and grounding feel to the space. The existing draperies featured colors of black, white, grey and red and became the inspiration for the new furniture, area rugs, lighting, art work and accessory colors.

Rustic Vacation Home Living Room

The heart of the home is the great room which consists of living, kitchen and dining area. The large stone fireplace is the focal point of the living room and is adored by several two story windows which face the first hole of one of the resorts golf courses. A semi-circular shaped sofa was custom made in a striped Authentic Home chenille and leather fabric and is perfect for entertaining or watching TV. The hand-made custom rock coffee and side tables, from a Montana quarry, brings nature indoors and is the perfect addition to the rustic room. The family loves games and purchased a unique game table with inlaid Italian wood designs while in Italy several years ago. Authentic Home COLOR Paint in Camel was used for the walls to give the room a warm, comfortable feel.

PNW Fireplace Family Room

The large metallic fireplace tile, by Statements Tile, is centered between the knotty alder bookcases to create a focal point for this family room.  The metallic tile finish reflects the natural light and enhances the balance of all the other colors of this comfortable family room. It’s the perfect place to cozy up with a good book, maintaining the warm, inviting feel that all living spaces should have.
